In MS Pro, you can build standards for seven types of machining operations. These include drilling, reaming, tapping, turning, slab milling, and power sawing (bandsaw and hacksaw). As you construct the standard by providing speeds and feeds to the program, you can also specify time and method for mounting the workpiece, plus numerous other variables, such as chip blowoff, quality control checks, clerical activities, and so on. In addition, you can specify header information that describes the part, part number, operation number, and several other items.

MS Pro uses industry-standard machining formulae which can be applied to the majority of common machining work elements to produce accurate standards in a fraction of the time needed for detailed time study or application of other higher-order systems. The program is inexpensive, fast, and user friendly. You can build a labor standard and print a study summary which includes all time and workplace data in just a few minutes. Just point and click on one or two screens to describe and assign time to virtually any activity done by a machine operator. A short list of MS Pro features includes:

• User may select from seven operation types, including drilling, reaming, tapping, turning, slab milling, and power sawing (bandsaw, hacksaw).
• The program includes a large internal materials specification database. This features reference speeds and feeds for each type of machining operation and relevant data for numerous common ferrous and non-ferrous materials. You can access the data for reference, or use the descriptive information in the current calculation at any time.
• Summary standard hours are displayed as Hours Each, /100, or /1000. Normal ("raw" time) is shown in minutes and seconds.
• Personal, Fatigue, and Delay Allowance is user-defined and changed at any time.
• User may input header information, such as Part Name, Part Number, Op Number, Employee data, and other workplace variables. Header data is printed on the Study Summary, which is a complete list of all relevant data and calculations.
• You can add any number of additional Job Variables and corresponding times. These are cyclic variables, such as QC checks, materials handling, chip blowoff or cleanup, clerical activities, and others. Select from a list or add your own description.
• You can add any number of additional Job Makeready or Teardown Variables and corresponding times. These are non-cyclic variables, such as tool change, sharpening, workstation cleanup, setup for next job, etc. Select from a list or add your own description.
• You can choose a description of a workpiece mounting method (vise, collet, manual chuck, fixture, etc.) or add your own description and time.
